Nous avons séjournés 8 jours dans cet hôtel. Le prix est raisonnable, la situation parfaite à proximité de tous les monuments à visiter et des restaurants. Notre chambre était petite mais fonctionnelle et propre, nous n’y étions que pour dormir, donc c’était suffisant. Il y avait la climatisation ce qui était indispensable vu les fortes chaleurs qu’il faisait, et les fenêtres sont super bien insonorisées (on n’entend pas du tout la route). Le personnel est très accueillant et serviable. Le petit déjeuner est simple mais copieux. A toute heure vous pouvez prendre un café et un biscuit. The Herzen House Hotel is located on one floor of a building in St Petersburg. It is centrally located, conveniently just a couple of blocks from St. Isaac's Cathedral, and several good and one outstanding restaurants. When arriving a 3 am, it was a surprise to find out it's just on one floor and that there are other businesses, including another hotel! - on other floors. There was a guard sitting in the lobby by the ATM machine. The Herzen Hotel front desk person was very friendly, even at that hour, and we maneuvered through the adjacent breakfast room to my bedroom, which was a nice sized room with, as it turned out, the ubiquitous headboardless mattes with white duvet and pillows.Read more Frqtrvlr09 Anchorage, Alaska

Without the great staff we had at Herzon House and our private guide, St Petersburg would have been an even less user friendly place for tourists than it was. In the face of very little effort to accommodate English speaking tourists and a predominantly unfriendly service industry and transport, the staff at this hotel were outstanding in helpfulness, suggestions and assistance when having to communicate with anyone. I come to St.Petersburg mostly every month and always stay at Herzen House. Since I discovered this hotel in 2009 I've fallen in love. City center location, atmosphere, clean rooms, customer oriented staff. This hotel is perfectly managed by Natalia who is the general manager of the hotel; she is indeed so responsible, smart. efficient, keeps in touch whenever you need and built such a nice team. I had booked and paid from Australia so was wondering if it would work out but had absolutely no problems. Friendly and helpful staff who recommended some terrific restaurants near by. Enormous breakfasts and access to tea and coffee. Rooms were spotless and very quiet. Just around the corner from the Hermitage and the metro so an excellent choice for a stay in St Petersburg. My husband and I just returned from beautiful St. Petersburg, spending 7 nights at the Herzen House while there sight seeing. From the airport taxi pick up they arranged for us upon our arrival, to the drop off at 4:30am for our early flight out - our experience with the Herzen House was great. The round the clock staff was extremely accommodating, from helping us with restaurant reservations to acquiring beers for my husband upon request. Even before our trip, the quick, efficient communications via email - answering all our questions, big and small, were so helpful in easing any of our stress in trip planning. The hotel location, as noted by all other reviewers, cannot be beat. And we were so happy overall with the prices - compared to other hotels in the same area. The included breakfasts and round the clock cookies, water, tea and coffee were wonderful touches as well. The room - we had a Comfort sized room - was just the right size. In general: the location of this hotel was easy to find and very central. It is close to metro station, Hermitage, Nyevsky Prospect and many other major points of interest. Arriving at Herzen House, we were greeted by Irina who locked our luggage in a storage room for safekeeping until our room was ready and gave us introductory tips for a short stroll and lunch. Upon our return, our (superior) room was ready (Despite initially booking a comfort room, having read the tips here at tripadvisor we requested an upgrade for a superior via e-mail. The hotel staff were so nice to offer it to us free of charge). This end of St Petersburg seems to be quite pricey for hotels, but this is a very good alternative to some of the more expensive options. The hotel is on the 4th floor of the building but don't let that put you off. There is a lift and when you get there you are greeted by friendly and helpful staff. This hotel is in an excellent location and so many sights are walkable from it. The staff was exceptionally helpful for all needs, including taxi service, theater tickets, etc.....24 hour coffee, tea and cookies were great and a water bubbler in the breakfast room was helpful since we could refill our own water bottles. We stayed at the hotel for four nights at the end of April. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with restaurant tips (which were all very good) as well as all the questions about how to get to various places. The room was very clean and certainly adequate. Breakfast was good and any type of egg could be ordered separately. The location is perfect for all the main sights and if you want to go further afield, there is a metro station within a short distance. This hotel takes up the fourth floor of a building, so kinda tucked away. It's a great bang for your buck in it's location. A block from St. Isaacs. An easy walk to the Hermitage. We caught the "City Tour: Hop-on-hop-off" bus on the same block and trolley stops where also convenient. Despite being on a busy street, rooms were pretty quiet at night, so happy with that. I was here with a group of 40 people in early July. The staff could not have been more helpful -- from giving us a welcome reception to helping us with tours, restaurant recommendations, and even directing me to the nearest pharmacy and writing down a suggested headache remedy in Cyrillic to give to the pharmacist! Our room faced the street and was a bit noisy at night, but since the whole city is up and about enjoying the late light, I don't think it could be avoided. This hotel is centrally located and within easy walking distance to most major sights. The staff were friendly and polite and helped me with tours. Through the hotel we found an excellent tour guide and toured with her for three days. Hotel also had a driving service to transport us to and from the airport and train station. Everyone spoke English. The only negative issue we had was that the complimentary coffee was awful. Tea was great though. They have a 24 house complementary refreshment area, and complimentary Russian tea and sweets on Wed. The place is very value oriented. We booked on Booking.com and needed to make a change. We emailed the hotel directly and made the change. The staff arranged a driver from the airport and to the train station which helped us very much. They received ballet tickets prior to our arrival and held them for us. The room was a good size for European standards but best of all it was just a few blocks from the Hermitage and walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. Located just 5 minutes walking distance from the Nevskij Prospective, this lovely hotel is perfect for every kind of stay in Saint Petersburg. The staff is incredibly friendly and they give you support for everything, from choosing the nicer restaurant (you can get discounts if you go to the ones affiliated to the hotel!), to send your postcards, to rent a taxi for you at a special price! The breakfast is included in the price and it is good, although not very sweet stuff are present. The rooms are very nice, although not really at the level of the price we have paid (327 euros for 3 nights). Due to my work, I visit and spend time in St.Petersburg at least 2 weeks every month. I have tried many different hotels, including five stars Hotel around the city. Finally I found my place. At first sight, customer service is very visible in Hotel. It is definitely comparable to five hotels even more I must admit. The place of Hotel is located just in the city center. Visitors who are looking for city center, can't find more than this. Cleaning is very good and well mantained. In the breakfast you find what you need. The bathroom is very nice, spacious shower what you need after a hard working day. We chose this hotel because relatives stayed here and because of TA's positive reviews. We were impressed that it lived up to our expectations on most counts. Herzen House is perfectly located in the heart of the old St Petersburg and closer to Palace Square than all of the upscale hotels close to the cathedral (Corinthia hotel, Grand hotel Europe or Kempinski).The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was very clean and had free wi fi; our bathroom has a heated floor. In addition, the atmosphere was really welcoming with tea, coffee and cookies available during the whole day. You couldn't get a better placed hotel for exploring the heart of Petersburg. The staff are helpful and friendly, and while the hotel is not luxurious, the room and public areas were all spotless. Hotel is perfectly situated in the very heart of the city. The Hermitage, Nesvkii Prospect and other major points of attraction are very nearby. The staff is very helpful to give all the information you need. The atmosphere is really welcoming with tea, coffee and cookies available during the whole day in the small but nice breakfast room. This little hotel is very centrally located, within easy walking distance to the st Issacs and Winter Palace. The newest Metro station (Admiraltiskaya) is just around the corner. There are quite a few nice restaurants nearby too - we tried Teplo (ok Russian food, but somehow seems more popular than it should), Clean Plate Society (a basement fusion restaurant, great grilled shrimp salad and cheese burger, very reasonable price, a little smoky but worth visit), and several cafes. The hotel reception desk is very helpful - all young people and speak fairly good English. They told us how to take the Metro and change to the mini bus to Peterhof and recommended taking the high speed boat on the way back. Great suggestion and the experience and the views were nice both ways! Their restaurant suggestions tend be tied to restaurants that they have relations/discounts, and hardly any Russian ones. We were able to find some on our own, and by just walking into restaurants that looked good. We were happy that our room was ready when we arrived at 9am after the overnight train from Moscow, so we were able to take shower before heading out. The shower is Very good - hot water and great water pressure. The bed is nice enough, but tight, like double-bed size, with 2 separate thick covers. The air conditioner in the room is very good and came with an easy to use remote control. Our room faced the courtyard, so it was quite nice. Stayed here the 3rd week in Oct and it was FANTASTIC! First of all, the people there were absolutely STELLAR. Alice, Anastasia, Natalya, Evgeny...SO charming and helpful and PATIENT! The hotel is in a GREAT location, walking distance to SOOOO many things, restaurants, grocers, the Post office, shops, metro, and of course attractions. The room was SO lovely, and SOOO clean! When I was there , the hotel was not packed and they gave me an upgrade, which, my European standards, was HUGE! Bathroom too, and who doesn't love the floor tile warmer and the towel warming rack?? The location of Herzen House could not be bettered, half way between St Isaacs cathedral and Nevsky Prospect, and closer to Palace Square than all of the upscale hotels close to the cathedral (Astoria, Angleterre, Petro Palace and the coming Four Seasons). But it isn't competing with upscale hotels at all. The premises occupy two floors of an old apartments building with centrla stairwell/lift separating the rooms into three "sectors" on each floor. Breakfast is served in a small cafe-style room which is open all day for free self-service tea/coffee/biscuits which is a very useful facility - it's "on tap", with a quiet place to sit, whenever you want it. Rooms are clean, well furnished (though the double bed is cramped) and with perfectly adequate bathroom (shower, no bathtub). Road noise was not a problem on the fourth floor - hardly noticed any noise at all - and there was no noise at all from the nearby breakfast room. Toiletries provided and telephones in all rooms were unexpected bonuses at this price level.Reception was welcoming and helpful, with English spoken. Highly recommended, would not hesitate to return. Had a wonderful 7 nights at Herzen House,. Staff very welcoming, helpful and certainly a comfortable hotel. No flash but hotel very clean, breakfast healthy and position- you can't get better. Good restaurants nearby and Nevsky Prospect very close but not so close that you feel its busy-ness. I had made a mistake with my booking but that proved to be no issue or problem for the hotel. The complimentary Russian afternoon tea was a surprsie and very enjoyable. The rooms are not huge but comfy and as it was June who spent time in their room when there was so much to do and all in alking distance. All the contacts with hotel staff, from reservations, to transportation from the airport, to being there for 3 days were perfect. They could not be nicer, or more supportive. The location is great. 10 minutes to the Hermitage, and 5 minutes to Nevsky Prospect. The rooms are clean, WiFi in the rooms and common areas is free. Thank you Herzen House! Rooms were basic but very clean, tidy and functional. Location was brilliant- walk to everything. Good restaurant next door and others nearby. Supermarket on corner as well for those small things. Staff were fantastic- friendly and helpful- although I could not get to Novgorod!! But that will be next trip when I again stay at Herzen House! Breakfasts nourishing.Had a mix up with my booking- my fault as I extended my stay- Herzen House staff found me another hotel for the one night I needed. Had a slight hiccup with flight coming in- delay in pick up at airport ( but traffic in St P can be horrendous) but arrived and then found a bottle of champagne and a free transfer back to make up for my having to wait! Certainly will recommend to everyone and certainly will stay again. Note- quietness of first room was wonderful (back room facing courtyard); front room was a little noisier. Recommend you take eye shades if you are there in summer- White Nights- are indeed that. But, then there is so much to see and do in St P that who wants to sleep too long!! I booked online through their reservation system. They require one night's deposit and request a copy of your credit card and passport. First, let me say that all of my contacts with hotel staff, from reservations, to visa support, to being there for 6 days were perfect. They could not be nicer, or more supportive. The location is great. 10 minutes to the Hermitage, The Neva and 5 minutes to Nevsky Prospect. The rooms are clean, but spare. The TV is good for Europe, with BBC and CNN. The staff was great and very responsive to any requests. The rooms were spotless, quiet and comfortable, but small. The breakfast which is included in the room rate was good. It is also in a very good location and only a short walk from the Hermitage. There are several restaurants and a small convenience store close by. We stayed there for 7 nights and would certainly go back. They are a small property and fill up quickly, so you must book several months in advance if you will be in St. Petersburg during the tourist season. They have a good web site and are prompt in responding to any emails.Agoda traveller.

I had been at Herzen House hotel in a business trip. The company booked the room for me, and it turned out that I'd got superior room instead of standard. The room was spacious, there were some 4 windows with thick curtains and blinds on them. There were free Wi-Fi, the full-sized fully equipped bath, LCD TV on the wall, very cozy light and huge comfortable bed. The breakfast was tasty, however once or twice during our stay we had to get out very early and ask staff to get our breakfast early too. Staff offered us lunchboxes with our breakfast instead and that was very convenient. Location of the hotel is very central so it is very convenient for both business and leisure travellers. People who work here are always pleasant and helpful- even to the helping me with Russian grammar. The room was always clean and breakfast is modst but very good. I liked 403 even better than 405. It is lighter and a little rosier. Many things pleased me my any camplaint was that the plumbing seemed sometimes to back up. I will recommend it to others. I feel at home here . The hotel is perfectly located to the Palace Square, St. Isaac's Cathedral, The Admirality, the State Hermitage Museum. There are a lot restaurants around. Quiet hotel, good comfortable rooms, but there was misunderstanding about smoking in the hotel. It is not prohibited but administration asked to refrain from smoking during breakfast hours and while being in guest rooms.

No hotels are cheap in Russia's main cities, and anything approaching luxury commands huge prices but with so much to see and do in St Petersburg, time spent in a hotel room is likely to be pretty minimal, so location and a comfortable bed at a reasonable price were our main criteria. The Herzen House Hotel filled both bills admirably. The hotel occupies the top floor of a building on Bolshaya Morskaya, a once-again -fashionable street lined with some grand houses that runs in to the top end of Nevsky Prospekt, just a few minute's walk from some of the city's main landmarks - St Isaac's Cathedral, the Winter Palace and the Admiralty. That was our first requirement met. A comfortable bed? The room was fine, nothing special but very clean, quiet ( we did have one of the back rooms), a bed I could sleep in very well and a perfectly adequate bathroom. A reasonable price? Very - currently (2010) a rack rate of 5800 roubles for a Superior twin room in high season is quoted - that's about US$195, A$220 or 140 euro and compared to the prices quoted by other hotels in the vicinity, this is is very reasonable. Special offers at different times include things such as discounts for booking on line, free tickets for the Hermitage, free airport transfers, etc. Check the website for all rates and special offers. The breakfast buffet offered plenty of choices and - a nice touch - once breakfast was over tea, coffee and biscuits were available all through the day in the breakfast room. English-speaking staff, free wi-fi and free use of a computer in reception all added to amenities. This is definitely a hotel to be recommended, so much so that, following our initial vacation visit, MrL and his colleagues have returned more than once when work commitments in Moscow have given them time off for some St Petersburg R&R. We arrived early (before regular check in hour at 14:00) after a nightly train trip to St-Petersburg, but decided to head to the hotel straight away. Once there we were gladly welcomed at the reception desk for check in and were shown the luggage room where we could deposit our luggage, until our room was available for our further stay. After a short trip outside we noticed the excellent location of the hotel, near to the center and main attraction spots in St-Petersburg. Perfect hotel with perfect staff and location - even for disabled.
At the perfect location this hotel is situated close to everything and for a fraction of the hotels 5 minutes walk away on the high street. The staff is on call 24 hours and speaks good English (which seems to be quite rare in Russia). This hotel works good for a disabled in wheelchair as well, but the rest of the town is not very handicapped friendly, but we managed just fine anyway - everyone is very eager to help. Hotel did not have their own restaurant but a lovely breakfast buffé and lots of restaurants close and even next doors. We are already planning to go back again, perhaps next summer, as a week was too short to see all that St Petersburg had to offer - and we would also like to bring my husbands parents with us so they can experience it with us. We will of course chose your hotel that trip too as the service was excellent and the staff most helpful and didn't see the wheel chair as a problem. We would absolutely choose this hotel for our next visit in this lovely city!! Highly recommended!

So much so, that I referred Neal & Esther Zalenko, who were traveling about 10 days behind us, that yours was a good place to stay. They took my advice and also stayed at Herzen, and now that they have returned to the United States, they thanked me for my recommendation to Herzen. This is a nice, clean, centrally located hotel (we walked to St. Isaac's & Yusopov Palace and Nevsky Prospect), with free lobby internet PC and wi-fi throughout. The Front Desk staff was exceptionally helpful (calling taxis, arranging transfers, etc) and everyone of them spoke English. These are plain rooms, in a plain hotel (nothing fancy) but with a King Bed, comfortable chairs, decent working desk space, generous closets, large bathroom with shower AND bath, TV and a Free Breakfast...and at a price that cannot be beat. We finished our River Cruise from Moscow to St. Pete and stayed at Herzen from Sat thru Tues. If you're not looking for "fancy", this is a hidden "value" gem for the money!

A clean and basic room with a good bed, tv with one english channel and lots of other language channels, good wifi in the room and a reliable and not busy computer in the reception area, a very good bathroom and a very good and friendly breakfast you pay for the very convenient location with some street noise.

We spent 4 days (and night) in SPB and the choice of the hotel was very important. This location is close to everything and the mini hotel is very pleasant: the rooms are nice, spacious and silent. The staff at the reception speaks fluently English and is very "customer satisfaction" oriented. A very pleasant stay.

I know it has been a while since I stayed at Herzen House but as promised here is my opinion. I enjoyed my stay very- very much. I did not expect the place to be so small, cozy and professional. Rooms are very nice, free WiFi in all rooms is the best thing across Russia. Food is good, tea/coffee 24h service is great too, especially in winter time. And of course at last but not least, the most important - staff. No matter who was at the reception the service was perfect. You are all very helpful and understandingly forgiving to us strange foreigners.

Just Great accommodation! Herzen House Hotel was perfect in terms of location it's really only 5 min. walk to Hermitage and Nevsky prospect, 15 min. walk to St. Isaac's Cathedral and other tourist attractions. The hotel itself was not that big, on the 4th floor of the building, with a lift and quite spacious rooms. The room was equipped rather good (can be compared to the 3-4 star hotel room). The staff was polite and helpful with all our requests concerning the theater tickets, airport transfer and visa invitations. Most likely to return back to this hotel!

I came to St Petersburg to visit my Russian friends whom I already know for quite a long time. This year I decided to visit them in May, as I was advised that the May holidays is the good time for coming. My friends had the days off and plenty of time to show me the city. They also arranged me the accommodation in Herzen House, as their apartment was not that big for guests. I've relied on their choice of hotel and was not disappointed. As the hotel is in the center we easily walked around all the attractions. I had very comfy room with all needed amenities. And as I am not a frequent reviewer of hotels, I would probably say nothing new about the Herzen House, except calling the hotel - a great place to stay in St Petersburg!

A lovely small hotel, not many rooms, so the atmosphere was quite and friendly. I wish I knew about Herzen House in St. Petersburg earlier, I've stayed at some other hotels (don't want to advertise any), but they were with lower level of service. The location was nice, crossing of Bolshaya Morskaya Street and Nevsky prospect. Many attractions are around, including my favorite Isaac’s Square, just few steps from the hotel. Staff speaking very good English and very helpful with all trip arrangements including Russian visa and so on. I was recommended a nice Greek restaurant nearby. Great value!

I'm back to Germany and decided to write this review to thank the hotel staff for support and care. I've been searching for a small hotel in the city centre of St. Petersburg, and Herzen house seemed to be one. The reception girl did all the best to provide me with detailed information about the city - her advices were helpful (where to go and where to eat, what to visit), although I forgot her name, I would thank the reception generally for being so open-minded and attentive! The hotel left only pleasant and bright memories, highly recommend this place to everyone!!!

We both got home fine, with a delay of one day in Chicago, due to weather. I have been to the Dr. here and they now have me in a full leg cast for my broken ankle. We certainly appreciate all the help your front desk gave to both of us, particularly to my wife after the accident. Especially like the Vodka bottle you gave her that was the blue delft type glass. Blue is our favorite color, and it is a wonderful reminder of good times in St. Pete. Again thanks for your kindness, help and concern for the Harlans.

This is the best hotel in the history of the past few days. We love you. And if you are ever in the USA and need some Mexican food and a disco we will have to separate the two because in the USA Mexican restaurants just do not turn into disco's after dark.
